Our praise team, with guest drummer Ben Pham, jammed poolside Sunday evening at my apartment complex, the Trails at White Rock. We appreciate being invited back and even did a little vocal work in addition to the latin/calypso grooves. The evening began with some unexpected rain that forced us to call off most of our musicians, but we were able to setup on a patio and work it out. We did miss the smooth vocals of Brenda Armstrong and Douglass Anne Cartwright. Thanks to Matt Jaynes on steel pan, Alberto Martinez on bass, Dave Burris on guitar, and Mike Garvey on keys.
The highlight for me was singing “One Love” by Bob Marley and the Wailers. I had to decide if I was going to sing the Marley or the Wailers part. (I went with the Marley.)
Thanks to everyone who gave us a warm reception and enjoyed the vibe. We love music – it really is a gift. The Spirit speaks to us through these tunes, whether they are sacred or secular, so we play most of them on a Sunday morning in worship. I am grateful that we have the fantastic musicians that we have. Join us sometime to hear them yourself!
