The Table reaches out to our neighborhood and world in a variety of different ways. Check out some of the organizations, ministries, and causes we have supported in the past and stay tuned for other opportunities in the future.
Current Opportunity
In September, the Table will be working with our whole congregation to collect supplies to make relief kits. Church World Service will in turn ship those kits to places of disaster, war, and famine, like Japan, the Horn of Africa, and so on. You can help this project. Here is the ingredient list for a relief kit:
- One hand towel measuring approximately 16″ x 28″ (no fingertip or bath towels)
- One washcloth
- One wide-tooth comb
- One nail clipper
- One bar of soap (bath size in wrapper)
- One toothbrush (in original packaging)
- Six standard size Band-AidsĀ®
The items all need to be non-perishable, so toothpaste is a no go. Be on the look out for good sales or extras of these items that you can donate to the cause. The Table will spend some time in worship one Sunday putting these items into the kit packages.
Past/Future Opportunities
Crop Walk
Every April, the Table joins with other Christians from the Dallas community to raise funds and walk in solidarity with those who are hungry around the world. Church World Service is the organization behind the Crop Walk. This past April, we helped raise over $1000 through this event with other members from East Dallas Christian Church.
We will do the crop walk again on April 10, 2 PM.

Mike’s Kids & Angel Tree
Through the next few weeks, the Table has an opportunity to give to make someone else’s Christmas a joy. Mike’s Kids sends toys, clothing, and food to Good Samaritan Ministries near Brownsville, TX. These items can be gently-used and go to refugees and their families who are fleeing persecution and oppression. Angel Tree allows you to buy new gifts for children in our community whose family is experiencing hardship this year. They will receive fully wrapped gifts that share God’s love.
Soles4Souls
In January, the Table (and East Dallas Christian Church) proudly collected hundreds of pairs of shoes for brothers and sisters in need around the world. Soles4Souls is a not-for-profit organization that collects, refurbishes, and distributes new and gently used shoes to children, adults, and those effected by natural disasters such as the recent earthquake i
n Haiti. You can make a difference in someone’s life through something as simple as a pair of shoes.

Clean Water for Haiti
Through the month of May, the Table community will be filling gallon jugs with change – pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters – for the purchase of fresh water for work teams and refugee camps in Haiti. We are working with International Action who strives to bring Clean Water to Haiti by developing local resources and installing chlorination systems. Our generous giving is especially needed after the devastating earthquakes and subsequent aftershocks struck Haiti earlier this year.

Imagine a World Without Hunger
Through the month of October, the Table & EDCC will be gathering canned goods to go to hungry families and individuals in our neighborhood. This project is in partnership with the good folks at the North Texas Food Bank. Bring your items in to our worship space and lay them around our communion table as a gift to others.
