Welcome to the Table at East Dallas Christian Church!

The Table is a worshiping community that seeks to live out the good news of the kingdom of God.

We worship every Sunday at 9:30 AM at East Dallas Christian Church by gathering at God’s table with exciting music, interactive messages, and authentic fellowship.

What is the Table?

The Table is both a worship experience and a community. We worship using music, prayer, images, words, art, and conversation. As a community, we gather in small groups, serve our neighborhood, and encourage one another. Most of us live in East Dallas, but we have participants from Richardson, North Dallas, and Grand Prairie too.

Here are a few other unique things about what we aspire to:

  • We practice God’s hospitality. You may come as you are, wherever you are in your faith journey, and find a place at this table.
  • We seek to be nourished by God’s grace through worship and fellowship together. Through this nourishment, we learn to forgive, encourage, and empower each other to face all that life brings.
  • We are then sent back to our homes, communities, and world to make a difference using the gifts and passion we are given.

Our tagline is pretty simple and might explain it better:

Find your place.
Nourish your soul.
Change your world.

Our goal is to be a place where, no matter your church experience, no matter your questions, no matter your faith journey, you will find an opportunity to connect with God in a variety of different ways, make some new friends, and be challenged to share the grace you experience with the world.

If you have other questions, consider checking out our Frequently Asked Questions page.

What is the worship service like?

We have a simple flow for our worship together – it’s not complicated or particularly fancy. It is flexible, so you may find that we swap out an occasional element or two when it fits with our conversation or focus on a particular Sunday. Feel free to ask questions if you want to know more. Here is a sample flow that we include on our welcome cards:

Gathering Time

We gather for coffee and donuts before our time of worship. When the praise team begins playing, we gather in the worship space.

Welcome

At the Table, we all begin as guests at Christ’s invitation. We close this time by having our participants turn to those around them and say, “Welcome to the Table!”

Music

Our praise team leads us in music, sometimes interspersed with shared readings or words of hope and compassion.

Prayer

We pray in a variety of ways. Sometimes, we share our prayers out loud as a community.  Sometimes, we use prayer stations to engage our whole selves in conversation with God. Meet and speak with God as you feel comfortable that day.

Song

We transition in preparation for our message with a softer, reflective  song.

Scripture Reading & Message

Our preacher takes time to share a message intended to challenge, comfort, and move us. The message is often interactive—respond as you feel comfortable.

Communion

Our preacher and an elder lead us in communion. All who follow Christ are welcome to share in this meal. Move forward, take a piece of bread, dip it in the cup, and eat.

Response

As our last act together, we are challenged to respond to God’s message. We share announcements, an invitation, and a final community benediction to love our neighbors as ourselves.

Where are we located?

The Table meets in the Community Room (also called Alexander’s Stage) at 629 N. Peak St, Dallas, TX 75246. You can park behind the church and enter in through the green awning nearest Junius street. There will be a couple of signs pointing the way. Get directions here.

There are a few unique things to know about our space. During the week, we use it for childcare for the English Language Ministry, a ministry that teaches English skills to neighborhood mothers. Also, we share our space with a Headstart program that serves many families in our community.

Meet our staff.

He is originally from southwest Oklahoma, has an M.Div from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC, and is married to Yunkyong. His two kids, Emily and Joseph, keep him busy most evenings.
